My name is Brooke Ung, I was born and raised in the Bay Area and I'm passionate about Jesus, people, and marketing!

One of my first internship supervisors once told me, that marketing is all about telling people about good news. Since then, I have come to love this idea -- communicating exciting opportunities for individuals with hopes, desires, and needs.

For the past 4 years, I have had numerous opportunities to grow in the marketing world in sectors like non-profits, food and beverage, and event planning. It has been a rewarding adventure as I understand what it looks like to build authentic relationships, research with humility, and lead courageously!

One-Year Non-Profit Marketing Plan

Spring 2024

During my last semester at Biola, I had the privilege to work with a nonprofit organization, the Maryam Parman Foundation for Children, and create a comprehensive, one-year marketing plan for them. Throughout the semester, I conducted an internal and external assessment of the organization through extensive secondary research as well as 13 interviews with participants, volunteers, healthcare professionals, donors, and staff members. At the end, I came up with relevant and detailed potential recommendations for the organization's internal & external strategies, promotion strategies, and fundraising strategies.

To see how I was able to apply critical thinking skills throughout this project, check out my reflection video down below!

Fall 2023

This past Fall 2023 semester my research partner and I completed a Marketing Research Report for Seven Syllables Coffee in Cerritos.

Along with my research partner, Kristin Dea, we conducted secondary research, primarily reading websites and articles to educate ourselves on the coffee shop industry. Then we interviewed 20 direct customers of Seven Syllables and also conducted a focus group comprised of 10 customers.

From the information we gathered, we created a survey to give to Seven Syllables customers to better understand their pain points, ideas for improvement, and favorite parts of the shop. We were able to survey 140+ customers and utilized a software called SurveyPro4 to analyze the responses.

In the end, we presented our findings to the owner of Seven Syllables -- comprised of 60 figures generated and 6 key recommendations.

Spring 2022

For my semester-long project, I interviewed 11 professionals in the fashion retail industry and 44 customers in stores like H&M, Ross, and Fashion Q. My research is divided into three major sections, which include two detailed assessments of each store (backed-up interviews), and a comprehensive business idea based on the pain points customers described.

The primary goal of this project was to discover a niche in the market to explore ideas for potential businesses. It includes a thorough analysis of customer experience, pricing, placing, and promotion!

Target Market Project

Spring 2024

During my last semester at Biola, my teammates and I conducted a marketing research analysis for Biola University’s Office of Innovation, a campus organization dedicated to helping entrepreneurs with their start-up ventures. To research the organization, we conducted 11 in-depth interviews to understand potential pain points and to develop our survey questions. Based on our research, we created a 19-question survey on Google Forms and analyzed the 112 responses from students on SurveyPro. Analyzing this data and producing helpful figures, we were able to create recommendations for the organization.

Check out our findings and figures!

Connecting Communities (CoCo)

Fall 2022

I facilitated 3 focus groups at Biola University alongside my two other colleagues for their startup business, Connecting Communities (CoCo). During this project, I was tasked with creating questions for the focus group, asking relevant follow-up questions, and managing the time allocated to each topic.

With 75 focus groups conducted overall, I organized student responses on a spreadsheet, noted any memorable data points, and presented key findings to my team. This experience taught me how to analyze qualitative data and create meaningful strategies with my research.

Columbia: Strategic Assessment & Recommendations

Spring 2024

During the Spring semester in my time at Biola University, I had the opportunity to take a class called Strategic Management. For this class, we are split into groups of 6 individuals and given the task of choosing a publicly traded company to do an in-depth analysis on and then take that data to convey a unique opportunity that they have and provide recommendations on how they may implement that opportunity. For this project, my group and I chose to look at Columbia Sportswear and were able to develop a very unique recommendation based on our perceived opportunity.

Hydro Flask: Consumer Profiles & Marketing Strategies

Fall 2022

I researched and created three consumer profiles for the company Hydro Flask. Consumer profiles included a thorough analysis of their consumer journey in discovering the brand and useful demographic information. Based on this information, I discovered Hydro Flask’s primary target market, informing future marketing decisions. Finally, I ended my presentation with three specific marketing recommendations, including utilizing social media, emphasizing customization, and increasing collaborations.

This presentation was chosen by my professor to be used as an example for future students. Click to check out my slides and findings!

SWOT Analysis: Spotify

Fall 2021

As part of our Principles of Management project at Biola, I collaborated with four business students and conducted a company analysis for Spotify. In this project, we conducted research on the company's main competitors, analyzed the company's strengths and weaknesses, and came up with company recommendations to address critical issues and offer valuable advice for the company. In this project, we collaborated on business ideas and came up with opportunities related to strategy, marketing, operations, and technology.

“Conscientious, caring, and credible”

Brooke is conscientious, caring, and credible. Under my supervision, she led a bi-weekly class of elementary-aged students in discussion, homework review, and English composition. When problems arose, she was adaptable and resolved what she could on her own before escalating the problem to me. She collaborated with our team of teachers and an external partner to improve individual learning outcomes.

- Anita Chen, supervisor at fei teng after school

“communication, leadership, & high-quality work

I had the opportunity to teach elementary students with Brooke. Brooke brings enthusiasm and sharp critical thinking skills to her work projects. I would highly recommend Brooke because of her communication, leadership skills, and high-quality work.

- Madeleine Prater, supervisor at connecting communities (coco)
